Why is OffSec Live adjusting its schedule?
OffSec Live is a pilot program where we are experimenting with new teaching and course delivery methods. While our initial hypothesis and approach had a 25 week learning journey duration, this also included multiple breaks in the curriculum and time for self-study. In addition, we received feedback that a more focused approach - targeting key learning areas to optimize the learning journey - is preferred for currently enrolled students. As always, we welcome your feedback on the learning journey and appreciate your participation and consideration as we learn.
What is the new OffSec Live schedule?
The OffSec Live pilot will run through Friday, September 2, 2022. The final live stream will be completed on Friday, September 2, 2022 and the streaming video recording will then be uploaded to the OffSec Learning Management System. Thereafter, the Offsec Live: PEN-200 learning journey, stream session recordings, and lab demonstrations will be available on demand to all currently enrolled students, for the remainder of their PEN-200 subscription/lab period.
When did OffSec Live Zoom streaming sessions start?
We moved from a Twitch to Zoom streaming format beginning Wednesday, July 27th. Sessions will be streamed every Wednesday and Friday at 12 PM ET.
When can I register for the OffSec Live Zoom streaming format?
Registration for the Zoom sessions will open on Wednesday, July 20th after 1:00 pm ET.
Why is OffSec switching from Twitch to Zoom format?
OffSec Live is a pilot program where we are experimenting with new teaching and course delivery methods. While Twitch was a successful streaming format and we learned a lot from the experience, Zoom also has potential and will enable OffSec to better capture student information so we may understand and take steps to improve PEN-200 course adoption and engagement. Zoom also has functionality that may prove beneficial to our Community and we wish to test its usefulness. We may decide on a different format in the future, once the pilot program is completed. As always, we welcome your feedback on the streaming format(s) and appreciate your participation and consideration as we learn.

What is OffSec Live: PEN-200?
OffSec Live: PEN-200 is a scheduled streaming offering that will facilitate learning, improve engagement, and ultimately increase Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP) certification preparedness and achievement for currently enrolled PEN-200 students.*
OffSec Live: PEN-200 will provide a week-by-week learning plan - including learning objectives, recommended hours to dedicate, course modules to focus on, and Topic Exercises & Lab Machines to complete - along with twice-weekly, live streaming webinars where our OffSec team will provide course-specific and interactive learning guidance and lab concept demonstrations. In addition, the OffSec Live offering will facilitate an OffSec Live Discord channel where currently enrolled students may collaborate to better understand the PEN-200 materials and methodology.
While OffSec Live: PEN-200 is currently in version 1.0, allowing us to experiment with new and different delivery methods, the offering does draw from our years of experience and known best practices for learning.
OffSec Live’s twice-weekly streaming is included free for active OffSec subscription holders. OffSec PEN-200 standalone, Learn One and Learn Unlimited subscription holders will also be provided access to an overall PEN-200 learning plan, an OffSec Live: PEN-200 Discord channel, streaming recordings, and lab concept demonstration machines. Those who do not have a current OffSec PEN-200 or Learn One and/or Unlimited subscription will only have access to the twice-weekly OffSec Live streaming sessions.
See our OffSec Live: PEN-200 release blog post here.
*OffSec Live: PEN-200 will most benefit Learn One PEN-200 and/or Learn Unlimited PEN200 subscribers due to the 25-week learning journey duration.
Why is OffSec doing this, and how does this benefit the OffSec community?
Our goals are two-fold:
- Improve the overall PEN-200 experience by facilitating learning, improving engagement and ultimately increasing OSCP certification preparedness and achievement.
- Allow all currently enrolled PEN-200 students to gain many of the advantages previously available only to our OffSec Academy customers - including a point-of-view on learning journey, modular teaching, lab and topic demonstrations, and student cohort based interactions. These benefits will be available at no additional cost to currently enrolled PEN-200 students.
Where and when will it be happening?
The OffSec Live: PEN-200 streaming sessions will consist of twice-weekly, hour-long interactive presentations via Zoom. We will also be streaming via Discord a weekly office hour where we will address any questions students may have regarding the PEN-200 course and prior streaming sessions, the office hour is available to all currently enrolled PEN-200 students.

Who is this designed for?

Who will be leading the sessions?
OffSec Live: PEN-200 sessions will be led by OffSec Student and Customer Delivery teams.
How much will this cost?
The OffSec Live: PEN-200 streaming sessions are free and open to the public.
How do I access OffSec Live: PEN-200?
Concept demonstration sessions will be delivered and recorded via Zoom.
There will also be an OffSec Live: PEN-200 Discord channel open to currently subscribed or enrolled PEN-200 customers to allow for ongoing engagement with other students as they follow the suggested learning journey.
Assistance will be provided by the OffSec Academy, Student Mentor, and Content teams in the OffSec Live Discord channel. However, the Discord channel is designed primarily for student-to-student interaction and learning collaboration for those currently enrolled in PEN-200.
Can I access the recorded OffSec Live: PEN-200 weekly concept demonstrations?
Yes, these will be made available to those currently enrolled in a PEN-200 course. The recordings will be housed in the OffSec Training Library, updated approximately one week after the live streaming session.
May I record the OffSec Live: PEN-200 streaming session for personal use or to share with others?
No, these sessions are for Live streaming purposes only. The streaming session may be recorded and distributed solely by OffSec. Recording your own version and/or sharing with others will be considered a violation of our academic protocol. OffSec will, however, record the sessions and make the session recordings accessible to all currently enrolled PEN-200 students.
How do I gain access to the OffSec Live: PEN-200 environment and recordings?
The OffSec Live: PEN-200 content is available for any students who have an active PEN-200 lab. If you do not currently have an active lab you may purchase additional access via the Buy More option of your Training library account.
If you are running an active PEN-200 lab in the old system, outside of the Training Library and wish to be migrated over, please submit a request here.
How will I know when to attend?
The OffSec Live: PEN-200 schedule may be found in the PWK Live section of the Offsec Training Library.
OffSec will also provide session timing updates via Twitter.
Will I receive any acknowledgement if I attend all of the sessions?
No special rewards or acknowledgement will be given to session attendees. OffSec Live: PEN-200 is purely designed to assist our current students with their PEN-200 learning journey and experience.
What is the level of interactivity, how and when will questions be answered?
OffSec Live: PEN-200 is designed to be interactive and we encourage students to engage directly.
During the OffSec Live: PEN-200 weekly streaming sessions, questions will be submitted through chat, and the OffSec instructors will address submitted questions in real time (first come, first served). Student questions will also be handled through Discord when the streams are not active.
Another key goal is to also encourage our active students to help each other along the way via the OffSec Live: PEN-200 Discord channel.
Can I enroll in PEN-200 at any time or do I have to go through all of the 25 week learning path before I can sign up?
Currently enrolled PEN-200 students may attend from the outset, or drop-in/drop-out at any point along the PEN-200 learning journey. Anyone can join the interactive sessions. Existing students may also ask questions and collaborate on Discord. Sessions will be recorded and housed in the OffSec Training Library, for later viewing and reference.
Currently enrolled students can join at any time depending on their individual learning goals and objectives. This said, we feel that following the learning journey from the outset will likely serve most students well.
I have attended all the Offsec Live: PEN-200 webinars, can I take the OSCP exam?
Only students who are currently enrolled (or have been enrolled in the past) in the PEN-200 course may attempt the OSCP exam.
Attending the Offsec Live: PEN-200 webinars will help you better prepare for the OSCP exam, however, it will not replace the experience you gain from going through the course materials and working in the PEN-200 labs on your own.
